Victory! Climate Superfund Signed in New York

Dear Pamela, We did it! Governor Hochul just signed the New York Climate Superfund bill into law! This is a huge victory for all New Yorkers in our ongoing fight against climate change. This historic legislation will require fossil fuel companies to pay $75 billion over 25 years ($3 billion annually) to fund climate resilience projects across New York. The money will help communities protect against flooding, extreme heat, and storms – and because the law is based on past sales, oil companies can't pass these costs on to consumers. This victory would not have been possible without the tireless work of advocates in Albany and activists on the ground across the state of New York and the whole country.
