The first question that was asked after Donald Trump was convicted was "Does it matter?"

The answer is a resounding YES.

In a poll conducted the day after the verdict, a full 49% of registered independents said Trump should drop out of the race right now. Even 15% of registered Republicans said the same thing!¹ More than a quarter of all voters said the verdict made them less likely to vote for Trump.²

So now it's up to all of us to make sure these numbers grow—and we can do that by reminding voters over and over again that Trump has been convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying documents in an effort to steal the 2016 election. The reality of the conviction on 34 counts of fraud and election interference is starting to set in for Trump and those who support him.

As a convicted felon, Trump can no longer visit 37 countries, including allies like Canada, Japan, and the United Kingdom.³ He will be sentenced on July 11 and could face probation or even jail time.⁴

Thanks to Trump and MAGA's endless misinformation campaign, a large portion of voters think the verdict was political and now have less faith in our legal system.⁵ If Trump were to be reelected, he would sow even more discord and distrust in our system so he can destroy it entirely. He has already proven that he wants to use the presidency to flagrantly violate the law with impunity, and now he has even more reason to double down.

The Trump verdict and fallout have made it even clearer that we must do everything in our power to keep this man out of the White House.

While the verdict is a step in the right direction, we know that the only people who can truly save us from Donald Trump are ourselves. We need to remind those voters who may be considering sitting out this election that by doing so, they may help send a felon convicted of trying to steal an election back to the White House.
