*If you pre-registered, you should have received an email with your assignments from dataadmin@indivisible.org today* As Senate Republicans reminded us this week when they blocked the Right To Contraception Act, reproductive rights -- and especially abortion -- are on the ballot this year. Unlike in 2016, we've now clearly seen what we're facing: A liar, cheat, and conman who will do anything to cement his authoritarian rule. Just this week, Trump doubled down on the idea that, if elected, he would prosecute his political foes, a terrifying assertion of dictatorial intent. We have the opportunity to repeat 2020 and stop him. That's where Neighbor2Neighbor (N2N) comes in. What is Neighbor2Neighbor? At its simplest, Neighbor2Neighbor is a chance for you to connect with other pro-democracy members of your community and make sure they vote. That means: - You sign up.
- We send you a list of 10 Democratic neighbors, a very simple script, and an optional printout to leave behind.
- You knock on their doors and have a brief conversation about voting.
- You mark on your "Neighbors" page if you talked to them.
That's it. That probably doesn't seem all that different from conversations you're already having with people in your neighborhood, and that's the beauty of the tool. One of the best motivators for hesitant or inconsistent voters is the knowledge that like-minded members of their community are voting, too. With Neighbor2Neighbor, you can have low-stakes conversations with people you may have seen out on a walk, at the dog park, or at the grocery store who you'll now know are already pro-democracy aligned. These early conversations are all about reminding your neighbors of the stakes of this election. Indivisibles know how disastrous it would be for MAGA to win this election, but it may not be top of mind for your average neighbor. That's why N2N matches you with 10 Democratic neighbors for a friendly conversation about the need to protect reproductive freedom and our democracy. Then, later this fall, we'll return to those neighbors again to make sure they're getting out to vote! | Why is this tool so important? The 2020 election essentially came down to just 44,000 votes in three states -- and it's possible this year's margin could be even slimmer. That means every single vote will come into play if we want to win back a trifecta, codify reproductive freedoms, and pass democracy reform. Our Neighbor2Neighbor goal is to reach 200,000 households in the most competitive districts and states across the country. If there are two voters in each of those houses, that's 400,000 potential voters we've reached. With your help, we can drive that number above and beyond. Ok, but how does it feel to do it?
