The legitimacy of the Supreme Court is in deep, deep trouble, now more than ever. "Billionaire sugar daddies [are] paying for justices' private school tuitions and their cars and mortgages," warns Representative Jamie Raskin of the House Judiciary Committee in the video, and, most recently it was revealed that in the days following the January 6, 2021, insurrection, Justice Samuel Alito flew an American flag upside down—a symbol that had been adopted by insurrectionists to show their support of Trump's despicable "Stop the Steal" effort.^1,2 

Democrats, led by Rep. Raskin, have a plan to start reversing the damage—a bill called the Judicial Ethics Enforcement Act of 2024.

Rep. Raskin's bill, the Judicial Ethics Enforcement Act of 2024, would:

• Create an Office of the Inspector General within the judicial branch.
• Authorize the inspector general to conduct investigations of alleged violations of the code of conduct for justices of the Supreme Court of the United States.
• Require the inspector general to report expeditiously to the attorney general whenever the inspector general has reasonable grounds to believe there has been a violation of federal criminal law.
• Require the inspector general to provide an annual report to both the House of Representatives and the Senate on the results of their investigations.
• Provide protection for whistleblowers.
• And more.

Sounds like a great start, right?

But there's a problem: We can pass this bill—and stop the Supreme Court from becoming nothing more than a rubber stamp for a right-wing, reactionary politics—only if Democrats are in charge of the House, the Senate, and the White House.

Republicans simply won't take action, no matter how bad it gets, because it benefits them and their MAGA movement. And let's be blunt: If Trump heads back to the White House this November, he will actually appoint MORE MAGA justices—who will rubber-stamp his every move, destroying our institutions for a generation.
