Will you sign the petition to demand Trump NOT be granted “absolute immunity”?

The Supreme Court must deny Trump full, absolute immunity.

Trump claims he has immunity from the crimes he committed in office. Sign the petition to demand that the Supreme Court deny him immunity immediately!

Andra,

The U.S. Supreme Court is preparing to hear twice-impeached, disgraced ex-president Donald Trump's immunity case THIS WEEK. In Trump v. United States, Trump is blasphemously claiming that he should be immune from prosecution for any crimes he committed while he was in office, including the January 6 insurrection.1 Our elected leaders should be held to a higher standard of ethics, morals, and lawfulness—but Trump is arguing he shouldn't be held to any at all. The future of our democracy is on the line, and we have to act.

We are so close to reaching the goal of 100,000 signers ahead of the oral arguments this Thursday. We plan to send the petition to the press to demonstrate broad, grassroots opposition to Trump's immunity claim! Will you sign the petition NOW to demand that nobody—especially not the president—be above the law?

This appeal is Trump's latest attempt to delay his trial in order to obscure evidence from the public ahead of a critical election. We see right through his dangerous and corrupt antics. But our government was set up with checks and balances for a reason—because nobody is above the law. We can't allow SCOTUS, packed with far-right justices, to grant Trump absolute immunity or pave the way for him to delay his trials in hopes that he can win in November and then simply pardon his crimes.

The Supreme Court must rule against tyranny and deny Trump full, absolute immunity. And they have to do it NOW, so that his trials can commence and we, the people, can have full transparency headed to the voting booth this November.

Trump is facing nearly 100 felony counts, including for conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election leading up to and on January 6.2 These crimes—committed by a president sworn to preserve, protect and defend the inalienable rights of the people—were an affront to everyday Americans.

Help us get to 100,000 signatures before the Trump v. United States trial begins. Sign now and make it clear to SCOTUS that no president, including Trump, should be granted "absolute immunity."

Thanks for all you do.

Sign the petition if you agree Donald Trump should NOT be granted "absolute immunity" by the U.S. Supreme Court!

Dear MoveOn member,

After three different pleas to a New York judge to delay his New York trial and three rejections, Donald Trump will go to his first trial on Monday for his crimes to conceal information from voters in the 2016 election.3

It's been over a month since Trump's first criminal trial in New York was supposed to begin. But it's been mired in Trump's appeals, headed to the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing that he has "absolute immunity" against prosecution for any crimes.4 This is all part of Trump's desperate legal strategy to delay all four criminal cases against him until he can pardon them away, banking on his winning the 2024 election.

Trump has shown us over and over again that he thinks that he is above the law. Earlier this year, a D.C. circuit court unanimously rejected his claim that he has "absolute immunity" from being prosecuted just because he was president.5 Now, he's running to his right-wing-stacked Supreme Court to save him and block this decision, granting him immunity from prosecution. And what's worse, instead of letting the unanimous D.C. circuit decision stand, the Supreme Court is aiding in Trump's delay tactics.

We need to come together and say enough is enough! No president, including Donald Trump, should have "absolute immunity" from being prosecuted. Will you sign the petition?

Nobody is above the law, including ex-President Donald Trump. His legal argument that anyone who's been president has "absolute immunity" from prosecution for any crimes they commit couldn't be more dangerous or wrong. The Supreme Court must rule against him, denying Trump full, absolute immunity.

Trump will exhaust all options to avoid accountability for the crimes he's committed. This is just his latest attempt, but if he's successful, the consequences are grave. The Supreme Court should not play into Trump's tactics to postpone accountability and justice. Since they have decided to take Trump's appeal, they must rule against him, denying Trump full, absolute immunity.

Last summer, special counsel Jack Smith charged Trump with four federal felonies for conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 election, leading up to and on January 6. And just this week, Jack Smith and a group of prosecutors sent a sharp letter to the Supreme Court, urging the justices to reject Trump's claim to full, absolute immunity.6 We must make it clear that the people also do not want presidents to be immune from accountability. This is a matter of justice and democracy!

Trump's legal argument that anyone who's been president has "absolute immunity" from prosecution for any crimes they commit couldn't be more dangerous or wrong. Just imagine what else he would attempt if that were the case. Instead of letting the unanimous D.C. circuit decision stand, the Supreme Court is aiding in Trump's delay tactics, threatening all of us and our democracy.

Sign the petition now! Donald Trump must be stopped. He is not above the law, and he and any other president should not have "absolute immunity" from prosecution for his crimes and attacks on our democracy.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? The MAGA movement's book bans have forced teachers and librarians across the country to remove books from their shelves and censor what young people can learn. MoveOn is fighting back, including by filling a "Banned Bookmobile" with books that the far right has banned and driving it to key cities and towns to raise the visibility of book bans, hand out banned books for free, and bring people together to stop censorship. To keep up the fight against book bans and the MAGA politicians who support them, we need your help.

Will you start a monthly gift to power and sustain MoveOn's critical work?
