| Tell Congress: Pass the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal and Transparency Act! | A report just released by ProPublica details how after Clarence Thomas complained about salary for Supreme Court Justices, and Republicans worried he may step down from SCOTUS, Thomas began receiving lavish gifts, luxury superyacht vacations, and secretive income from GOP mega-donors. Thomas's failure to disclose all of these gifts, vacations, and income have scandalized the Supreme Court all year. This latest revelation shows the dangers of a Court left to monitor itself. Congress must step in to save SCOTUS from corruption before it's too late. Sign the petition to Congress: Pass a Supreme Court ethics act! Over more than two decades, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas accepted luxury trips virtually every year from GOP mega-donor, and billionaire Dallas businessman, Harlan Crow without disclosing them. Superyachts, private jets, and resorts — all of it included. These frequent luxury trips break the law according to two ethics experts. And yet, for more than four years, the Supreme Court has failed to adopt an ethics code and enforce ethical norms despite a series of serious controversies. This latest report shows there may have been a notable connection between Thomas complaining about his salary to a GOP congressman and Thomas receiving his windfall of undisclosed gifts from GOP mega-donors. If we want to stop Thomas' long list of unethical behavior and ensure the integrity of the high court, Congress MUST pass a Supreme Court ethics law. Add your name: We need a Supreme Court ethics act now! |
