Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis are seeking out endorsements in state legislatures – and extreme Republican lawmakers are rushing to back them. In West Virginia, 50 state legislators – nearly half of the state's Republican lawmakers – just backed Trump in a letter organized by his campaign. In Florida, 99 state legislators endorsed DeSantis for the presidency – they even passed a bill that made it easier for him to run. In New Hampshire, both Trump and DeSantis have built widespread support from Republican legislators, each racking up 50 endorsements in the battleground state. In Iowa, 37 state Republicans endorsed DeSantis, while 18 have backed Trump. Nationwide, 300+ state legislators have backed Trump or DeSantis, two of the most extreme candidates seeking the GOP nomination. They're aligning themselves with DeSantis and Trump's right-wing agenda, and anti-democratic rhetoric. It's despicable.
