I owe you an explanation

Friend,

I am reaching out to ask you to contribute to my re-election, but first, I thought I owed it to you to explain why this deadline is important, and why I need your help.

Right after June 30, I need to report how much money I raised during the last three months. It's a public fundraising report, and lots of people are going to pay attention to it.

I don't want to leave any room for Senate Republicans or the gun lobby to think that I'm vulnerable and put this seat in play for 2024. So I want to show that I've got a huge foundation of grassroots donors ready to get me to the finish line next fall.

Friend, I wish I didn't have to ask you to give today. Truly. It's the worst part of my job, but these Senate races are just so expensive. There's no way around it, but I believe that doing this the right way makes elected officials and our party more responsive to the people.

If you can, please consider splitting a donation of whatever you can afford between my campaign and Chuck Schumer before the FEC deadline. I cannot do this alone. Whether it’s $10, $25, or more, it makes a difference.
