On Monday, May 15, Fox is hosting its annual "upfront" in New York City, a high-profile event where Fox's executives present their upcoming lineups of shows in an attempt to woo corporations to sign lucrative yearlong advertising contracts.1
Advertisers are one of the biggest sources of revenue for Fox News, so this is a golden opportunity to publicly pressure big corporations to stop doing business with Fox.
That's why MoveOn is planning large "Stop Funding Fox" protests outside the Fox upfront and simultaneously outside the corporate headquarters of Fox News' three largest advertisers—AT&T, Subway, and General Motors—in Dallas, Miami, and Detroit, respectively.
And that's not all, Andra.
We're also launching targeted digital ads, running newspaper ads in local outlets, putting up billboards, and running mobile billboards to expose Fox News, ramp up our pressure, increase media attention, and cut off their primary revenue source.
But Fox is unlike other companies, and we need to be prepared. When MoveOn has campaigned against Fox News in the past, we have seen increased efforts to sabotage our work through what is known as a "DDOS" or "Distributed Denial of Service" attack, where bad actors intentionally try to overload our servers and take our website offline to stifle our organizing. Which means we not only need to ensure that our in-person events are safe and secure but also increase our digital security as well.
Fox "News" is not a legitimate news outlet.
They are a mouthpiece for MAGA propaganda, peddling QAnon conspiracy theories, anti-vaccine lies, and attacks on immigrants, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and more.2
And every single dollar advertisers like AT&T, Subway, and General Motors spend on advertising on Fox News bankrolls the endless stream of hate they blast on air.
The truth is that Fox News will continue spewing lies and further threaten our democracy until they start losing profits.
That's why we need your help to go even bigger and ramp up our work to hit Fox News where it will hurt the most—their bottom line.
