I am announcing my run for Congress. Please allow me a chance to introduce myself.

Hello Pamela! My name is Odessa Kelly. Today, I am *officially* announcing a run to represent Tennessee's 5th District in Congress. If you don't know me already, please allow me a minute to introduce myself. I would love an opportunity to earn your support. I was born and raised in Nashville on the East Side. I loved growing up in this city, and through my career, I have learned how the system is rigged against the people that make Nashville great. As Nashville became the hip new "it" city, I saw neighbors get pushed out while billionaire real-estate investors cashed in. I served 14 years at Metro Parks and Rec and led the Napier Community Center. We saw young Black community members face discrimination from police. We saw good homes for working class families become luxury condos nobody can afford. And so much more. That's why, in 2016, we co-founded Stand Up Nashville to take on some of the big fights for racial and economic justice. But while we've been fighting for our lives here in Nashville, our congressman has spent decades in office, siding time and time again with the rich and powerful. Rep. Jim Cooper lives in a so-called "blue" district. But he's been in D.C. voting like a Republican since I was a 10-month old baby. I'm running because we deserve a Democrat in Congress who fights as hard as we do for our families and for this city. Our campaign won't take a dime of corporate PAC money, even if our opponent rakes it in. And, if elected, I will fight my heart out for strong COVID relief, Medicare for All, housing justice, and Green New Deal union jobs. Today is our official launch day, and we really need your help to show as much momentum out of the gate as possible. Can you officially endorse our campaign for Congress? Whether you're from Nashville or not, every signature helps us build the grassroots support it'll take to win. So, please, add your name. The truth is this is going to be a tough race. We are taking on a forty-year incumbent who already has hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank. He was first elected in 1982, the year I was born.
