| Tell the Senate: "Pass the PRO Act to strengthen the rights of workers across the country, and eliminate the filibuster if that is an obstacle to passage. The PRO Act is essential to ensuring that every worker has the right to unionize. We all benefit when American workers are protected" | Amazon just used dirty, underhanded tactics and outright intimidation in order to corrupt a crucial union election in Alabama. The Senate has a chance to put an end to those tactics by passing the PRO Act. The PRO Act would reverse decades of anti-union legislation, with sweeping changes that would support workers' right to unionize.1 It would override right-to-work laws in more than two dozen states, while making it harder for employers to penalize or even fire employees for union organizing. It would outlaw the tactics Amazon used in Alabama. This is the second year the PRO Act has passed the House. President Biden supports it. Now, we need to make sure it passes the Senate. Democrats control the Senate, and it's time to pass the strongest worker protections in generations. Tell the Senate: Pass the PRO Act! President Biden strongly supports the PRO Act, and urged Congress to send it to his desk "so we can seize the opportunity to build a future that reflects working people's courage and ambition." He's right. If we hope to fight back against Big Tech and other huge corporations, we need worker power. Passing a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and other programs will require a strong coalition of grassroots organizations and labor―which will be much easier when workers' right to join a union are given stronger protections. Income inequality is highest when union membership is low. By unionizing millions of Americans, we can start to take power away from CEOs and corporate bosses and redistribute profits to workers. Tell your Senator: It's time to strengthen organized labor and pass the PRO Act! Thanks, Mike Phelan Progress America |
