| Pamela, Members of Congress from both parties have treated Donald Trump's presidency as somewhere between a joke and a game. 5 people are dead, and thousands of others radicalized by conspiracy theories egged on by Trump and his Congressional enablers. This is not a f#%ing game. We've all seen the footage and pictures of the destruction in the Capitol Wednesday. But 120+ Members of Congress turned around and signaled their support for the attackers who tried to violently overturn the election. We need to send a clear message to leaders in both parties: There will be consequences for playing footsie with fascism. Perhaps it's unsurprising that there's more moral clarity from newer members than from the Democratic so-called leadership. While Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer moved to adjourn the House, the Squad is organizing for accountability. Rep. Cori Bush introduced a resolution on Wednesday: Congress must investigate and expel any member who incited the insurrectionist terrorists who invaded the people's House yesterday. If there are no consequences, next time will be worse. SIGN NOW: Sign Rep. Cori Bush's official petition: Congress must investigate and expel any member who betrayed their oath of office and sided with terrorists against America. Donald Trump needs to be impeached and removed immediately. If he can't be trusted with a Twitter account, he can't be trusted with the nuclear codes. Congress should then convene hearings on whether Capitol Police assisted the insurrectionist takeover, and why so few arrests were made. 5 Americans died. A fascist with a Congressional lapel pin is as dangerous as a fascist with a weird fur hat. It's time we acted like it. Thanks. Mike Phelan Progress America |
