We can't move forward without justice for Trump's crimes!" | Pamela, Yesterday, the Washington Post released a recording of a one-hour phone call in which Donald Trump and his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, threatened and cajoled Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in an attempt to overturn the election. Democrats control the House of Representatives. What are they doing to ensure accountability? Adjourning for two weeks. The Democratic Caucus Chair, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, told reporters he wanted to "look forward, not backward," effectively letting Trump off the hook for his crimes. Here's the truth: We only know what we know because Secretary Raffensperger leaked his call. But flipping Georgia's votes on their own wouldn't change the Presidential result. So what other states has Trump been attempting to intimidate? And what was promised to them? The House must immediately convene an investigation to find out! We must demand that Democrats fight for our democracy! If there are no consequences for this behavior, Republicans will keep trying until it works! In 2009, Barack Obama took over the Presidency amid an unprecedented crisis, and made the same promise as Rep. Jeffries, to look forward, not backward. As a result, the same people who lied to start the Iraq War, and who set up illegal secret torture sites, now hold key positions in the Trump administration. We can't move forward without accountability! SIGN NOW: Democrats in the House must not go on recess while the President attacks the foundations of our democracy! We must have accountability! As much as we wish that Trump and Trumpism will go away on their own, they won't. Absent consequences for their actions, they will keep coming until our country is destroyed.
