| Tell Donald Trump: "You lost. It's time for our country to come together to truly make this a country of liberty and justice for all, no exceptions. Admit that Joe Biden is the President-elect." | Friend, Joe Biden won. Donald Trump lost. The only people who won't admit it are Republicans in the House and Senate, and Trump himself. They're playing a dangerous game with our democracy, and we need to send them a message. SIGN NOW: Tell Donald Trump that he lost fair and square, and it's time to concede. Trump's reckless sore loser act may just be an act to set up his next stage―whether it's a Trump TV mogul trying to peel off disaffected Fox News viewers, fundraise off the controversy to pay down campaign debt (much of which is owed to the Trump corporation), or to negotiate a non-prosecution agreement from states whose laws he's broken. But he is massively eroding trust in our system of government, and Republicans like Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell are going right along with with it. We need to be clear that they are trying to overturn the results of a free and fair election―and then we need to act like it. Beyond the health of our democracy, which might be a little intangible, Trump's refusal to concede has tangible consequences. President-elect Biden should be receiving the Presidential Daily Briefing, so that he can hit the ground running, informed of international threats. His transition team needs to begin coordinating with the agencies handling distribution of the promising coronavirus vaccine. Tell Trump: You've had a week for your feelings. It's time to admit that you've lost and concede. The Trump team's claims of voter fraud are utterly unsubstantiated. They can't even say anything specific that went wrong―yet they're making wild, unspecified allegations to undermine the whole election. Trump has sent more than 130 fundraising emails since Election Day, alleging that Democrats are somehow "stealing" the election. The fact is, millions more people wanted Biden to be President than wanted him to be. And it's no wonder―Trump waged non-stop attacks on our health care, lined his own pockets with our money, and took a wrecking ball to the USPS in an attempt to suppress our votes. Republicans are playing with fire. Our voices are powerful hoses, and only we can douse the flames of autocracy. Thanks, Mike Phelan Progress America |
