Why? Because the filibuster allows 40 Senators to crush the agenda of a majority. If they united, Senators representing just 10.1% of the population could grind our government to a halt. The filibuster is why the stimulus response to the Great Recession was insufficient. The filibuster is the reason we don't have a public option in Obamacare. The filibuster stopped gun reforms that even some Republicans supported after Sandy Hook. And if the filibuster is still in place in January, the pandemic could lead to the next Great Depression. Mitch McConnell has already shown how Republicans react to an electoral landslide rejecting their own failed president. He shouldn't get another chance. Tell Democrats: Fix the filibuster if you take the Senate! Democrats have the majority of the American people. But the Senate acts as a founding gerrymander, securing minority rule. It's the only way we can pass a Green New Deal and keep our planet habitable. It's the only way we can ensure that voting rights are protected.
