Betsy DeVos is going to get people killed

News flash, Betsy: There's nothing normal about 150,000 dead people.

With colleges around the country re-opening, only to close immediately, after outbreaks of COVID-19, this action has aged all too well. DeVos and Trump's plan for schools is the worst of all possible worlds--wishful thinking, contagion, and then a hasty closure that leaves us all worse off than we would have been. DeVos and Trump should both resign. Tell Betsy DeVos: "Resign. You're going to get children and parents killed. That's a bad look for a Secretary of Education." ADD YOUR NAME Betsy DeVos needs to resign as Trump's Secretary of Education. She's at the center of a scheme to defund schools that listen to local health guidelines and don't open for in-person classes this fall. Most states closed their schools in March because every schoolday has the potential to be a suprespreading event. Now, with cases higher than ever, she and Trump are trying to force kids back to school to restore some sense of "normal." News flash, Betsy: There's nothing normal about 160,000 dead people. There's nothing normal about forcing educators to choose between the safety of their students and faculty, and potentially closing schools altogether for lack of funds. Any politician who forces things to get "back to normal" before we have the virus under control is going to get people killed.
