Donald Trump is attacking me because I refuse to paper over his record on criminal justice reform

Donald Trump is attacking Kamala. Rush your first contribution to our campaign right now to respond »

I'm writing to you from South Carolina, where many candidates for president were planning on attending the 20/20 Bipartisan Justice Center's Second Step Presidential Justice Forum. I was supposed to attend as well.

But when I heard the organizers were giving Donald Trump an award for his "work" on criminal justice reform and that students on campus were shut out from attending the event or asking him questions, I decided I couldn't be complicit in papering over his record.

Now, Donald Trump is attacking me on Twitter for speaking up and holding him accountable. Let's show him the full strength of our grassroots movement: rush your first contribution to our campaign right now.

My whole life, I've fought for justice and for the people -- something Donald Trump knows nothing about. The only part of criminal justice he can claim credit for is the "criminal" part.

Trump can attack me on Twitter until he's red in the face. But nothing will change the fact that he spent decades celebrating mass incarceration; pushing the death penalty for innocent Black Americans; rolling back police accountability measures; and putting people's lives at risk with his racist behavior.

We will never be silent in the face of injustice. And I won't be complicit in papering over his record. Thank you for joining me in this fight.

For The People,

— Kamala
