critical. please read. don't delete.

Critical deadline in 24 hours. Pitch in >>

It’s been bad. But while it’s no consolation, it could have been worse. And most importantly, we can make it better.

Total Republican control of the Federal government is doing serious damage to important American values: the environment is under assault; important regulations protecting investors and consumers have been killed; patriotic transgender members of the military are denied the right to serve; immigration policy has become a vehicle for bigotry; the health care system is being undermined.

If Trump and his right-wing allies had their way, even more damage would have been done. Strong, effective, unified resistance to their terrible agenda by Democrats in Congress has slowed them down and, in some cases, stopped them. But as determined as Republicans are, as long as we are in the minority in both houses, their ability to continue to do this is under severe threat.

That is why I am writing to you today. The one positive development in this year’s political situation is that a majority of the voters understand just how terrible the Republican record has been. This means that if Democrats have the financial resources they will need to combat the sea of right-wing money that we know is coming, we can begin the process of taking back our government in 2O18 and build momentum for completing the job in 2O2O.

Will you make a contribution to my friends at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee? Their critical End of Quarter Deadline hits at midnight tomorrow.

House Republicans are in serious political jeopardy. They have voted for a health care bill that even Donald Trump has described as “mean,” and they have voted to dismantle everything we have done to reign in the irresponsible financial practices that brought on the crash of 2OO8, including the effective abolition of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. They are not only “mean” in substance -- the deep divisions between the right and the far right in their ranks makes them dysfunctional as well, and of course, they have not only failed to deliver in any way on their promise to improve conditions for working families, almost everything they have tried to do would make these worse.

Your contribution to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will allow my good friends and former colleagues in the House to take full advantage of their unpopularity.

And the effect will be felt immediately because House Republicans will be watching very nervously when this quarter ends, on September 3Oth, to see how Democrats have responded. If you and others who want to stop their assault on our values could contribute an amount that reflects the magnitude of the threat we face, many House Republicans would become reluctant to risk their careers by continuing their right-wing path.

Please send your $1 contribution to the DCCC and help make tomorrow’s End of Quarter Deadline politically scary for the Republicans:
