Will you send an email to ask Congress to act on climate, health care, and more?

Democrats could pass a historic investment in climate and health care this week. Tell them to votes yes!

Dear MoveOn member,

Dedicating the largest-ever investment in fighting the climate crisis. Lowering the cost of prescription drugs. Expanding health care. And making massive corporations pay more of their fair share. These are all core pillars of the Inflation Reduction Act that Senate Democrats will vote on this week. Americans are begging for relief, and this is our chance to make a difference in the lives of millions.

Will you take two minutes to urge Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen to vote yes on the historic Inflation Reduction Act to lower costs for Americans across the country?

This legislation proposes the following:

  • Investing hundreds of billions of dollars for clean energy—such as incentives for wind, solar, and electric vehicles—to give us a chance at 40% reductions in our global-warming emissions by 2030.
  • Instructing Medicare to negotiate drug pricing which will save billions, while capping out-of-pocket prescription drug costs to $2,000 per person.
  • Extending subsidies for the Affordable Care Act for three years, ensuring millions of Americans can afford high-quality health insurance.
  • Establishing a minimum corporate tax rate, so big corporations will pay more of their fair share.1

This summer's extreme weather events—suffocating heat waves, torrential rains causing flash floods, dangerous drought—show us that the climate crisis is already here. At the same time, millions of Americans can't afford the prescription medicines they need because of Big Pharma's greed, and we face a deadline that could make health insurance under the Affordable Care Act more expensive for some if we don't act. Through all of this, many large corporations are showing record profits, giving executives jaw-dropping compensation, and manipulating every loophole to avoid paying their fair share while the rest of us suffer.

The Inflation Reduction Act would immediately impact millions of Americans—and the climate provisions, America's largest investment in confronting the climate crisis, will affect hundreds of millions of Americans in the years to come.

Democrats in Congress have the chance to pass this historic bill, which would be a significant step in the direction we need to go. So while Republicans are lining up in opposition, we need Democrats to rally and get it across the finish line.

Click here send a message to your senators in support of these policies, and then pass it along to your friends so our senators know we are serious about them taking action to lower costs and combat the climate crisis.

Thanks!
