I sometimes get questions about whether a volunteer signing up for one phone bank shift will make a difference. I always say yes, of course, anything you do will make a difference! But let me break it down for you to show just how big of a difference you can make:
We estimate the average Powered by People volunteer will talk to about 90 voters per shift. Imagine you single handedly convincing 90 people to vote. That's big, especially when you consider that in some State House races in 2018, the Democratic candidate lost by less than 200 votes.
Your one phone bank shift could make up the difference in some close races and totally help us flip the Texas State House. Can you sign up for a shift today to make that imagined impact a reality?
Now, imagine the 90 voters you've successfully reached telling their roommates, partners, siblings, or grocery store cashiers that they're going to vote on Tuesday. Even if each person only reminds 3 people, you've already turned out 270 voters.
And while 270 doesn't seem like a lot of people in the grand scheme of the big state of Texas – it won't be just you making calls. In fact, last night's phone bank had over 580 volunteers!
So, if each volunteer connected with 90 voters, each of those voters reminded 3 people to vote, and so on and so forth…that's A LOT of people.
And finally, if you signed up for two phone bank shifts, or even three – your impact could be what helps us send our 38 Electoral College votes to Joe Biden!
Now, let's stop imagining and let's get the work done. Can I count on you to sign up for a phone bank (or two, or three!) to make your impact?
