You already know how proud I am of my amazing wife, Kamala, but today, "proud" is an understatement. This afternoon, with more than 20,000 supporters in her hometown of Oakland, Kamala officially kicked off our campaign for president. She fired up the crowd with her vision for a campaign OF the people and FOR the people.
Earlier in the week, I sent you some behind-the-scenes photos from "Day 1" -- the day Kamala announced she's running. So many supporters wrote nice notes back, so I wanted to send you some more photos from today's HUGE campaign kick-off rally. Check them out:
Kamala, me, Kamala's sister Maya, and Maya's husband Tony.
We don't have an official count yet, but early reports say that more than 20,000 supporters joined us today in Oakland.
Today was incredible, and not just because of Kamala (though, as her husband, I'm extremely biased). Today was incredible because of the people -- each and every person who took time out of their Sunday, in person or online, to participate in this historic moment.
I'm grateful for all of you who joined us today and excited to meet those of you we'll see along the long road to 2020.
We're in it to win it.
All my best,
Doug Emhoff
P.S. You know I have to ask: Kamala's not taking a dime from corporate PACs in her campaign for president: she's relying on grassroots donations from supporters like you. Can you pitch in a donation of $10 or more today to help power her historic campaign?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
