Dear Friends, The polling shows that we can defeat Paul Ryan’s Tea Party compliant majority, hand President Trump an historic loss reflecting his low public standing, and take a major step towards repudiating the view that the far right-wing speaks for America. Less often noted (but equally striking) is that he comes off second in another comparison. Badly lagging behind the stopped clock which is right twice a day, Trump is on course to be right only once a year: In his complaint that Congressional Democrats have been united in their principled opposition to his efforts to deprive people of health care, accelerate global warming, leave consumers unprotected against financial abuse, and exacerbate inequality through changes in taxation. House Democrats have made it harder for him to enact his radical agenda -- but not hard enough, not because they have not done all that they could, but because of the power House rules give to the Majority.
