I remember my first day of middle school.   My family had just migrated to the United States, and I didn’t speak a single word of English. I remember that day so vividly because I’ve never felt so alone in my life.   When I first heard of President Trump’s litmus test for immigrants who don’t speak English, I was shell shocked.   It took me back to the first day of middle school, feeling alone.   Please -- take a stand against this hateful policy and tell Trump you refuse to let him turn his back on immigrants like me.   I didn’t let the fact that I couldn’t speak the same language as my peers stop me.   I learned English, graduated high school, went to college, and now I am fulfilling my passion of working in Democratic politics.   My story is shared by so many hardworking immigrants across the country.     Trump’s new anti-immigrant policies are un-American and go against the values that make this country exceptional. I am a proud DREAMer, proud immigrant, but most importantly, I am a proud American.   As Americans, we need to stand up for hardworking DREAMers and for the values we all share. Immigrants make our country better -- and if you agree, sign your name next to mine and demand Trump back down from this bigoted and hateful legislation.
