After Kimmel made mildly critical comments about Trump, Carr responded by saying, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct, on Kimmel, or there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead." FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez responded to the Kimmel ordeal saying, "What concerns me is how this administration is using every lever of power in order to bring broadcasters to heel, which is contrary to the First Amendment." Trump, with Carr by his side, hopes he can silence his media critics and political opponents. And every time he succeeds, people become more fearful of expressing dissenting views, and Trump feels more emboldened to attack those he sees as enemies. Carr plays a central role in this anti-First Amendment, media takeover crusade. It's time for our lawmakers to put a stop to it.
