This is probably only one of so many amazing headlines you've seen since last night, Pamela, but it tells a story you can't miss.
Skyrocketing utility bills shaped elections across the country, but one race you've probably never heard of shows just how impactful the work we do now, together, can be: the Georgia Public Service Commission race.
We know. That's not what you thought we would say. But, hear us out.
Like so many across the country, families in Georgia have seen their bills rise more than $500 a year over the last two years. So, for the first time in more than 20 years, voters flipped two Georgia Public Service Commission seats -- the offices that decide how energy reaches families and protects families from rising costs.
Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard ran grassroots campaigns that overcame a 12-to-1 fundraising disadvantage -- and won. They've pledged to put people first, not corporations, focusing on lowering utility costs and investing in clean, reliable, lower-cost energy for Georgia families.
And you helped decide this race. With the support of this community, Climate Power partnered with local organizations to educate Georgians and build momentum on the ground. From organizing events to voter outreach campaigns, we showed voters how decisions on energy affect their wallets -- and inspired historic action.
This win in Georgia isn't the only success we saw last night, Pamela. Wins in New Jersey and Virginia are further proof that voters pay attention when their energy bills, rising costs, and ability to afford essentials are at risk, with no end in sight. And it's our job to make sure voters know exactly who is responsible.
