Dear Pamela, Community Change Action is power from the ground up. We build relationships with grassroots community-based organizations in the child care movement and we are building a direct base of child care advocates known as Childcare Changemakers — currently 50,000 strong — who are center owners, family child care providers, staff, parents, and activists. Our vision is to create a care economy that recognizes caregiving as a public good by fighting for: -
An equitable child care system, built on racial and gender justice -
Thriving wages for child care providers -
Affordable and accessible child care for all families That's why we just released our 2024 Child Care Congressional Report Card, to inform parents and our communities at large about how their lawmakers stack up on the issue of affordable child care, and to inform Members of Congress that we are grading them on how they are working to make our vision a reality. Grades will be finalized in August, so now is the time to reach out to your lawmaker to talk to them about why YOU care about affordable child care for your family or in your community. See your federal lawmakers' grades and take action to thank them or urge them to strengthen their support for child care by cosponsoring key legislation. When you take action, there are prompts to personalize your constituent letter to your Representative and Senators. Please take the time to share YOUR story about why child care is important to you and your community. Congress can and must do more to realize our dream of an equitable child care system, built on racial and gender justice, with affordable care for all families, and thriving wages for care providers. Take this opportunity to tell your Member of Congress – as their constituent and child care advocate – why they should care about child care, too. |
