The corruption uncovered over the last 16 months has been shocking. Clarence Thomas is embroiled in tens of different ethics scandals including undisclosed trips to Russia and Indonesia paid for by GOP billionaire mega-donor Harlan Crow, serious conflicts of interest in cases that have benefited corporations and Trump, and a slew of mysterious connections to income, loans, and right-wing networks. All of the other conservative justices have also been caught up in scandals that call into serious question their independence and ethical standing on the court. Yet none of them — Thomas, Alito, Roberts, Gorsuch, Barrett, nor Kavanaugh — have been held accountable. First, the right-wing Court struck down decades of precedent in Chevron, giving corporations more power and hobbling the power of regulatory agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency and Food and Drug Administration. In that case, Thomas reversed his long-held position to side with Big Oil giant Chevron after his wife reportedly accepted secret payments from a shadowy conservative network. Days later, the same extreme justices gave American presidents "absolute immunity," a ruling that could let Donald Trump off the hook for the series of charges against him, including those surrounding efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Thomas should've never ruled on the case because his wife, Ginni Thomas, was involved in January 6.
