Dear MoveOn member, D.C. residents are under attack. Federal forces have now occupied the district for over three weeks, wreaking havoc on people's lives. Black communities are being harassed. Unhoused people are being displaced. Immigrants are being arrested in huge numbers. Residents are being forced to live amid armed forces and checkpoints. It's no wonder 8 in 10 D.C. residents reject Trump's federal takeover of Washington, D.C.1 And we know D.C. is just the first of many cities Trump wants to force his way into. He's threatened to send the National Guard to Chicago and Baltimore.2 And the list goes on from there. Let's be clear: An attack on the people of D.C. is an attack on all of us. Trump is showing all of us what he is willing to do to get his way and enforce his agenda, and it doesn't stop in Washington, D.C. Will you join the We Are All DC national march this Saturday, September 6, at 11 a.m., to be in solidarity with D.C. residents and demand the stop of Trump's takeover? You can RSVP here.   People will gather at 11 a.m. at Malcolm X Park, at 16th St. NW and W St NW, and begin marching down 16th Street to Freedom Plaza and then to the White House. Local organizations are leading this event and have safety marshals and security protocols in place. Here's what we're marching for: An immediate withdrawal of federal troops from the District An end to the federalization of the local police department The right to protect our communities in the future, permanently While the Trump administration spews lies, we know what this hostile takeover is really about: punishing and controlling the people who resist Trump's billionaire-backed agenda to stifle resistance. But we also know we are powerful when we come together, and that's what we need to do to ensure all of us can live freely. During the event, all participants are asked to help create a peaceful, nonviolent space, to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully.
