Pamela, For too long, Members of Congress have been allowed to trade individual stocks — with many influenced by the very policies they vote on. That needs to end. That's why I just introduced a bipartisan bill to ban Members of Congress and their families from owning, buying, or selling individual stocks and other similar assets. At a time when only two in ten Americans trust government to do what's right, the Restore Trust in Congress Act is an important starting point for changing that. But introducing the bill is only the first step. We need to make it clear to all of our colleagues in Congress that the people are fed up with the status quo and it's time to make public service about serving the public — not lining their own pockets.
