Pamela: Thank you.
Thank you for being the kind of person that doesn't turn away, that shows up, that has hope. Your actions make a huge difference. I know the impact you made first hand — as Trump and Netanyahu bombed Iran, it was people like you who signed petitions, made phone calls, and showed up to events to put a stop to it.
My family in Iran, my friends in Israel, and colleagues from communities tied to service members are all safer because of what you did and continue to do.
Our anti-war majority came together to loudly and defiantly oppose Trump's path to a reckless, illegal war with Iran. Here's how we did it:
Along with MoveOn, Indivisible, Working Families Power, and our allies in Congress — Senator Tim Kaine and Representative Ro Khanna — we led a "Healthcare Not Warfare" mass call to strategize our response to Trump's dangerous military strikes abroad and devastating cuts to the social safety net back home.

We held a press conference outside the Capitol with members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) to promote Rep. Ro Khanna's (D-CA) war powers resolution. This bipartisan legislation blocking Trump from escalating a unilateral war with Iran and demanding diplomacy quickly amassed dozens of cosponsors in the House.
Just days before, we held a closed door briefing with members of Congress at the Capitol, where I passed on the messages you had sent through your petitions and made sure they knew that their constituents urged them to stand in the way of further escalation that would only endanger people across Israel and Iran, not to mention U.S. troops in the region.
Meanwhile our message was inescapable, on TV, on the radio and driving around DC:
Thanks to your actions not just last week, but even before to oppose senseless wars in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Yemen, in Gaza, and eventually in Iran:
- Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle showed up for peace and accountability.
- Democratic leadership backed the crucial war powers legislation to help de-escalate the crisis and hold Trump accountable for his reckless actions.
- Some MAGA Republicans even broke from Trump to oppose war.
The past few weeks have reminded us: While the path to war may feel inevitable, amidst so much fear and suffering, it remains a choice — which means peace is always possible.
The ceasefire in place is fragile, and we have so much more to do, but for today, I wanted to say thank you, celebrate the real impact we had, and be grateful for the way your actions save lives.
Yours, with the deepest gratitude,
Sara and the Win Without War Team
