In the past month, ICE has arrested a union president and a sitting member of Congress. They are completely out of control. If you're older than 22, you've lived life without the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. ICE is a new concept that has shattered millions of lives by illegally arresting residents with permanent status while deporting others, denying them of their right to an attorney and their day in court. And even more egregious? Congress is working on a bill that would dramatically slash funding for Medicaid, food stamps, housing, and the environment – but increase ICE's budget by 600%. We're taking food out of needy mouths to detain more people. We can't keep pouring our hard earned tax dollars into an unaccountable agency that refuses to submit to the barest oversight from the Senate. Tell your representatives to block the mass deportation budget. Say no to the mass deportation budget → Not only is Congress planning to cut benefits for those who need it most, but they're planning on giving millionaires and billionaires a big tax cut. So guess who'll be paying for ICE's increased budget? The average American. Under Trump, ICE is the lead enforcer of Trump's mass deportation agenda and builds up the inhumane deportation machine that is devastating families and entire communities. And somehow even worse? Trump's ICE director is doing this all without being formally nominated – or confirmed. This is a pattern for Trump; in his first term, he rotated through Acting ICE Directors without giving them a full public hearing. This is a loophole to abuse the law and amass unchecked power in our executive branch.
