a no brainer
This sets a bad precedent
Speaking out against genocide should be a no-brainer. But now, it can result in someone losing their hard-earned degree. In May 2025, NYU student Logan Rozos spoke at his graduation and condemned the genocide in Gaza. Now, NYU has publicly accused Rozos of "lying" about who he planned to say and is withholding his earned degree while pursuing disciplinary action against him.
Pamela: No one should lose their educational credentials because they spoke out against genocide. Someone's brief expression of political conscience shouldn't result in consequences. This is yet another example of the broader crackdown on pro-Palestinian advocacy at elite institutions across the country.
We're seeing a chilling effect in real time, [Firstname]. Students are being forced to choose between their moral conscience and their academic future. Targeting Rozos represents a direct assault on First Amendment Rights. People are risking their livelihoods – and lives – to do the right thing.
But we can make a difference here. We must stand together against the criminalization of solidarity of Palestinians, along with the broader erosion of constitutional rights that threatens the foundation of both academic freedom and democratic society. People shouldn't be punished for speaking against genocide.
