Pamela,
Jamie Edwards is the founding president of Trader Joe's United Local 1 in Hadley, MA―the very first Trader Joe's store to unionize.
Trader Joe's decided to celebrate May Day by firing Jamie.
We're still getting the details―but it's clear that Trader Joe's corporate isn't worried about blowback. Can you rush a donation to Trader Joe's United to stand up for worker's rights?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your secure donation will go through immediately:
Despite Trader Joe's carefully cultivated progressive brand, they have fought our union tooth and nail. At the end of the day, management cares a lot more about pleasing its investors. It hasn't always been this way.
Trader Joe's used to have incredible pay, benefits, and atmosphere. But over the past 2 decades, they have embraced the Wall Street approach of increasing turnover, declining benefits, and stagnating wages.
Jamie has been a fearless advocate for their fellow workers. Management has targeted them in the past, but used to fear going all the way to firing them.
But the new US President has sent a clear message to union-busting CEO's: It's open season on union organizers.
Trader Joe's United is reeling. We'll have more information about how to support Jamie soon. In the meantime, can you rush a donation to keep fighting for Trader Joe's crew members?
In solidarity,
Trader Joe's United
