Right now, anti-voter groups are pushing to add new bureaucratic hoops to the National Voter Registration Form, requiring documents that millions of Americans don't have in order to register. It's the same unnecessary hurdle as the controversial SAVE Act – but vote-suppressing politicians, worried they won't get their way in the Senate, are trying to suppress voters through this process instead. More than 140 million Americans don't have a passport, which would likely be the new standard for registration. This change won't make our elections more secure. It will only create red tape and block eligible voters from registering, reversing decades of bipartisan progress in expanding access to the ballot.
