| Pamela, Cashiers and retail workers should be able to do their job without risking unnecessary back pain, cardiovascular strain, and chronic injuries. That shouldn't be controversial. But thanks to pressure from corporate interests, just ten states have passed the Right to Sit. Right to Sit legislation requires employers to provide reasonable seating for jobs that can be done sitting. This would allow all workers, not just those who are pregnant or disabled, to do their jobs without the pain and risks associated with hours of standing. The Right to Sit movement is gaining momentum: Legislation has recently been introduced in Michigan, following an ordinance passed by the city of Ann Arbor. We need Right to Sit legislation for every state in the country. Tell Congress: No one should have to risk unnecessary health issues and pain to do their jobs. This one small change can make a world of difference for workers across the country. But corporate interests have resisted the call to simply provide reasonable seating for their employees. Forcing workers to stand for hours on end when their jobs could be done seated is more than uncomfortable—it's inhumane and dangerous. Tell Congress to ensure that no worker is forced to stand unnecessarily. Protect worker health and dignity by passing the Right to Sit! Together, we can ensure safety and dignity in our workplaces, no matter how much corporate interests resist. Thank you for standing with workers, Mike Phelan Progress America |
