| Pamela, Trump's pick for Energy Secretary, fracking magnate Chris Wright, is in the headlines claiming that fossil fuels are "virtuous."[1] We know the truth—fossil fuels are hurting our communities and destroying our planet. Coal-fired power plants in particular make people sick, lower life expectancy, harm crops, and contribute to global warming. We're running out of time to address the climate crisis, and four years of a Trump Administration will only roll back progress. That's why it's crucial that President Biden take action now to protect our environment by phasing out coal plants. Add your name demanding President Biden sign an Executive Order to phase out all coal plants operating in the U.S. by 2035—before it's too late. Extreme weather events like Hurricanes Milton and Helene are getting worse, and are happening more often. Why? In part because of coal's contribution to fossil fuel pollution. Closing down America's remaining 200 power plants would cut pollution, lower mortality rates, save billions in related healthcare costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions that lead to global warming. Great Britain recently shut down their last remaining coal-fired power plant. It's time we followed suit. An Executive Order from President Biden phasing out coal plants would help protect our environment against Trump's extreme threats to gut the EPA—and should also provide training programs for coal workers to transition into clean energy jobs. We can't afford to let Trump's attacks on our environment go unchallenged. Tell President Biden to fight for a livable planet for all of us. Add your name demanding he use his last days in office to pass an Executive Order phasing out all coal plants by 2035. Thank you for urging President Biden to take action to protect our planet now.
