Beto O'Rourke and Gov. Greg Abbott hit record $200 million in Texas governor's race
This morning, we reached out about our goal to raise $3 million by Saturday's mid-month deadline. Here's why that's so important:
As of the latest TEC filings, we've raised $66 million through hundreds of thousands of grassroots donations in this campaign — a huge effort and a record for a Democrat running for governor. But thanks to his head start, Abbott has raised $134 million — and he's using it to attack Beto.
This race is officially the most expensive governor's race in Texas history. And in competitive races like ours, the candidate who spends the most has a massive advantage. We can't let Greg Abbott win.
This is the most important governor's race in America today. But as it stands, Abbott is outspending us 2.5-to-1 on radio and TV ads. If that continues, it'll be much harder for us to win on November 8th.
Thank you,
Team Beto
