Dear MoveOn member,
One year ago, we watched in shock and horror as streams of armed white nationalists attacked the U.S. Capitol to try to stop the certification of Joe Biden as president.
One year later, tens of millions of Americans now believe Donald Trump's Big Lie of a stolen election. Just 27% of Republicans accept that President Biden won the 2020 election.1 27%.
And adherence to the Big Lie has become a litmus test for Republican politicians at all levels of government.2
Trump this week called the 2020 election the "Crime of the Century."3
We have a message for Trump and the Republican Party: You lost.
That's why MoveOn just printed a huge batch of these stickers that say, "Trump lost. Get over it." And we're giving them away for FREE—while supplies last.

The deadly January 6 insurrection failed to stop the certification of the 2020 election and illegally install Trump in the White House for a second term, because Trump and his allies lacked the power to see their plans through.
But ever since, they have been methodically amassing the power they'll need to be successful in 2024—sowing tremendous doubt about the integrity of our elections, passing dozens of laws to disenfranchise people of color and young people in battleground states, and putting in place their own partisan lackeys to oversee elections and be able to call the winners and losers.4
In response, MoveOn has launched a multipronged, multimillion-dollar campaign to protect and fortify our democracy, which you can read about below.
As we pass the first anniversary of the deadly Capitol insurrection, we need to all do our part to help stop the spread of the Big Lie.
MoveOn's plan to save our democracy has four parts:
- Prevent Trump loyalists from overseeing elections: Trump is plotting to use the 2022 elections to install extreme right-wing loyalists to one of the most obscure but important jobs in politics: secretary of state—the state official who controls voter registration, oversees the counting of votes, and declares the winners and losers of elections.5 MoveOn is launching a big, powerful campaign to defeat Trump-backed candidates for secretary of state and elect individuals who will count every vote and ensure free and fair elections.
- Pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act: These bills—already passed by the House—would combat the state-level attacks on the ability of communities of color and young people to vote, create national standards for access to voting, and begin to curb the power of money in politics.6 MoveOn has joined with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s son and his family and a host of organizations to put intense pressure on the Senate to pass the legislation by January 17—the day of the federal holiday commemorating the civil rights leader's birthday.
- Protect and expand the Democratic majority in Congress: The Constitution requires Congress to certify the results of presidential elections. But if Republicans regain control of Congress after the 2022 midterms, the GOP could have the power to challenge—or even reject—the results of the 2024 presidential election.7 Republicans would need only a simple majority in each chamber to vote to overturn results and install Trump to a second term. That's one crucial reason why MoveOn has launched a hard-hitting campaign to win critical Senate battleground states, including Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin, and will launch an all-hands-on-deck campaign to protect the Democratic majority in the House.
- Defeat members of Congress who supported the insurrection: Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Ron Johnson, and all of the other Republicans who voted to overturn the will of the people on January 6 have no business still serving in Congress. MoveOn has launched a massive campaign to hold the Sedition Caucus accountable and defeat them at the ballot box in 2022.
As we pass this most solemn anniversary, join with us, because only together can we defeat Trump, the Republican Party, and the Big Lie.
