 | Cynthia,
I recently announced that after 47 years serving Vermont in the U.S. Senate, it's time for the next Vermonter to carry the torch of progress.
Even though I won't be on the ballot myself next year, I am still focused on helping Democrats defend our Senate majority. In a moment, I'll explain exactly why this is so important, but if you're already with me, please make a donation now to stop Mitch McConnell from regaining power.
When I was elected in 1974, our country was in the midst of a constitutional crisis. The strength of our democracy had been tested by the Watergate scandal, and our nation was in serious need of trustworthy leadership. That year brought historic Democratic victories that were essential in rebuilding what had been broken.
Now, we stand on the precipice of yet another constitutional crisis -- this time brought on by some members of the Republican Party who are bent on suppressing voters, subverting elections, and actually celebrating the mob attack on our Capitol on January 6th.
That's why I can say with certainty that the upcoming midterm elections are the most important I've seen in my years of public service.
With a razor-thin Senate majority and Mitch McConnell's obstructionist tactics at an all-time high, Democrats have an uphill battle ahead of us. It is critical that we not only defend our current Democratic senators but expand our majority to ensure we bring true progress to the American people.
Although I won't be running for office myself, I'm not backing down from this fight -- I'm doubling down, and I'm asking you to do the same.
Cynthia, will you give what you can to the DSCC so that they can help our Democrats make history in 2022? Your donation could be the difference between lasting progress for generations to come or handing power back to Mitch McConnell and the Trumpist senators who tried to overturn our democracy on January 6th. We need your help to defend our Senate majority. If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation will be processed immediately. Thank you for your generous support.
Sincerely,
Patrick Leahy U.S. Senator | | | | | | |
