Pamela, Remember: Our country was founded with the intention of taking power out of the hands of the elite. Though America fell short of that promise for much of its history, we have marched steadily over generations towards expanding our democracy, and finally coming close to the multi-racial democracy we were promised. Unfortunately, the elites don't want to share power unless it keeps them entrenched. So today's Republican party has set off a doom loop of gerrymandering, court-packing, and voter suppression laws designed to disenfranchise the majority and let a small, white minority rule. We need to reverse the momentum and expand our democracy. That means restoring balance to the illegitimate Supreme Court. Just this week, the Court defended voter suppression laws in Arizona, and overturned donor disclosure laws to make it easier for billionaires to buy politicians.
