| Sign the Petition: Support Black History education in our K-12 schools and denounce the racist attacks by Republican leaders. | Pamela, This week, Congress voted overwhelmingly to recognize Juneteenth, the day that slavery was finally eradicated from the United States of America, as a federal holiday. That's long overdue―but it's also insufficient. While we celebrate Juneteenth, we need to recognize that Black history is under attack in schools around the country, as Republicans whip up a moral panic about "critical race theory" and "cancel culture" to undermine recent scholarship about slavery and racism's pervasive role shaping our country's history. If Republicans are successful, schoolchildren will get Juneteenth off, but teachers won't be able to tell them why. We must defend Black history education from the Tucker Carlsons of the world! Sign now! In solidarity, Mike Phelan Progress America |
