Yet you wouldn't know it from this week's coverage of Trump's policy statement on abortion. Nearly every major outlet reported that he said we "should leave it to the states" -- a much more moderate interpretation than what he actually said, that it "will be left to the states" (AKA the current law). In reality, his statement didn't say much at all about where he stands. Why does this matter? It is, of course, utter bullshit coming from the man who bragged about ending Roe -- but it also shows how the media is willing to leave his intentionally vague statements unchallenged and unquestioned. After all, Trump's statement was an explicit endorsement of the most draconian abortion bans that have been passed at the state level. An endorsement of Florida's six-week ban. An endorsement of the 1864 TOTAL ban that the Arizona Supreme Court reinstated yesterday. The public deserves to know that Trump is responsible for all this, bragged about it, and plans to erode our rights further if he wins a second term. These moments prove how urgent it is that voters hear from trusted messengers about where the candidates really stand on the issues, from abortion rights to the fight for our democracy, from health care to the protection of Social Security. So, how do we fight back? Last week, we sent out an email previewing a new tool that "appears to be the most effective form of direct voter contact in existence." We promised to bring you more -- well, here it is: Pre-registration for Neighbor2Neighbor (N2N) -- the centerpiece of Project 2024: Majority Over MAGA -- is now OPEN! We are going to be deploying Neighbor2Neighbor in key races across the country in June, and according to our records, you live in one of those target areas. (Not sure if you're in one of our target areas or want to check for a friend? Use this handy N2N availability tool and guide.) What is Neighbor2Neighbor? At its simplest, Neighbor2Neighbor is a chance for you to connect with other pro-democracy members of your community and make sure they vote. That means: - You sign up on our pre-registration page.

That probably doesn't seem all that different from conversations you're already having with people in your neighborhood, and that's the beauty of the tool. One of the best motivators to hesitant or inconsistent voters is the knowledge that like-minded members of their community are voting too. With Neighbor2Neighbor, you can have conversations with people you may have seen out on a walk, at the dog park, or at the grocery store who you'll now know are already pro-democracy aligned. Instead of attempting to have conversations with complete strangers in other areas, you'll be able to talk to people in your own neighborhood about shared issues and concerns. The best part? There's no app to download, no confusing screen to navigate, no set deadlines (well, besides the election). You talk to your neighbors on your timeline and have a pleasant conversation that also encourages them to vote. But does it actually work? You betcha! An independent study of our pilot program in 15 congressional races found Neighbor2Neighbor to be twice as effective as traditional canvassing and more effective than TV ads, yard signs, phonebanking, or any other tactic tested. The study showed that it had a 1.1% effect on voter turnout. That might seem like a tiny number, but here are some *actual* tiny numbers for comparison: The 2020 margin in Arizona? 0.3% The 2020 margin in Georgia? 0.2% The 2020 margin in Wisconsin? 0.6% Said another way: 1.1% of the population of the US would be about 3.5 million people -- larger than the populations of Denver, Baltimore, and San Antonio combined. Ok, but how does it feel? Don't ask us. Let's hear from some previous volunteers: | "N2N is by far the best and most effective canvassing experience any of our volunteers have had. It's also such a reasonable ask for anyone with a life." | | "Did ten of my neighbors today in a half hour or so... Easiest thing I've ever done and now I know who the other progressives are in my neighborhood! Pre-registrations allow us to have an idea of just how large we're going to need to scale this program (the larger, the better) and let us make sure that we are set up to offer you the smoothest experience possible. We will release doors to volunteers in early June -- just in time for the anniversary of the Dobbs decision. Don't forget, this isn't just any election: This election is about protecting democracy, securing a true Democratic trifecta, eliminating the filibuster, and codifying reproductive rights federally.
