| Petition to Congress: We urge you to speak out in opposition to the unlawful mass firings of federal workers, including the workers just fired from the Centers for Disease Control and the Department of Education. These are critical workers who provide vital government services to people across the country. |
The Trump administration recently set off a chaotic "outbreak of firings" at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Department of Education — firing over one thousand workers vital to fighting public health crises, running special education across the country, and protecting civil rights in schools.
Trump and his "grim reaper" (the architect of Project 2025 and head of the White House budget office, Russ Vought) are taking advantage of the shutdown to pick up where DOGE left off. Trump and Vought are defunding critical government programs and purging qualified, experienced government workers who help make this country run.
A union representing impacted workers called Trump's firings an "unlawful abuse of power." Congress must stand up for federal workers and in opposition to Trump's reckless, politically motivated gutting of government services.
Sign the petition: Block Trump's unlawful mass firings — tell Congress to protect the federal workforce and critical government services!
After this latest mass firing, the CDC will have lost a third of its entire staff since Trump took office — medical professionals, public health experts, and many others pushed out to make way for the dangerous, anti-science Trump-RFK Jr. regime. With the elimination of special education program staff at the Department of Education, families across the country are left worrying if their children will get the resources and education they need.
Trump said programs "favored by Democrats" are being targeted and "they're never going to come back, in many cases."
A union representing many of these workers, Local AFGE 2883, said, "These illegal firings of our union members during a federal government shutdown is a callous attack on hard working Americans and puts the livelihoods, health, and safety of our members and communities at great risk."
Our leaders in Congress must stand with these federal workers now and stop this attack on government services.
Sign the petition: Stop Trump's mass firings!
