Friend,
On September 21, we're celebrating the first annual Sun Day.
Sun Day is the brainchild of Sanders Institute fellow Bill McKibben, and they already have 160 events planned in 32 states and Washington DC, where people are coming together to celebrate the power of clean energy.
Find a Sun Day event near you and GET EXCITED about everything the sun can do!
As Bill said when he announced Sun Day:
It's a simple fact that the power from the sun and wind is now the cheapest power in the world. Scientists and engineers have done their job. The cheapest way to produce electricity is to point a sheet of glass at the sun―and Big Oil is terrified. They're pumping so much money into politics, desperately trying to slow down the transition to clean power.
Instead, we're speeding it up. That's why we've scheduled a big nationwide day of action we're calling SunDay for the autumn equinox on Sept. 21. All kinds of groups are coming together in a big coalition to celebrate renewable power. There will be EV parades and people opening their homes to show their heatpumps to their neighbors. Think concerts, think teach-ins—think all kinds of actions designed to show Americans that this is no longer "alternative" energy but the obvious way forward. We may not be able to move DC this year, but we can make sure that states and cities across America are making it easier to put up solar panels!
This is the beginning of something big. Join the Sanders Institute and Sun Day on September 21!
Thank you,
Dave Driscoll

P.S. If you don't see an event near you - there's still time to host your own. Anyone who is excited to show the power of clean energy is welcome to host, and Sun Day has a team ready to support you in making your event a success. Click here to find out more about hosting a Sun Day event.
