Pamela: experts have confirmed famine in Gaza.[1]
Parents are watching their babies waste away. Children are crying for food that doesn't exist. Hundreds of thousands more are at risk. Since March 2, the Israeli government has blocked most international non-governmental organizations, like Oxfam, CARE, Médecins Sans Frontières, and other trusted humanitarians, from delivering even a single truck of lifesaving aid.[2]
The Israeli government is on a disastrous course — one that ensures more bombings, more human suffering, and that people across the region remain in incredible danger. It's made possible by an arsenal of BILLIONS of dollars in U.S.-made weapons.
It's time to END U.S. complicity in the horrific war being committed against the Palestinian people. Right now, multiple champions in Congress are working to turn the tide, including with legislation like the Block the Bombs Act.
Block the Bombs represents what people across the country want: To halt a deadly flow of U.S. weapons that fuel unspeakable violence. This bill is gaining crucial momentum as pressure builds on Congress to do something. But it will only pass if we overwhelm the House with support — and that's where you come in, Pamela.

It's rarely been clearer that more bombs and bullets won't bring the remaining hostages back home to their loved ones or build a path to peace. Reporting from the Israeli military itself reveals that 83% of those killed in Gaza have been civilians.[3] Distressingly, their deadly blockade and bombing campaign is only escalating after a recently approved Israeli government plan to take over Gaza City, as part of steps toward a full occupation of the entire Gaza Strip.[4]
Right now, as kids across the United States start a new school year, an entire classroom of children is being decimated in Gaza every day. Starving families walk for hours to reach new aid distribution sites. They line up before dawn, desperately hoping to get some food. But instead of the life-saving aid they deserve and require, they are routinely met with gunfire from Israeli troops.
It's time for a change, and now, finally, thanks to people like you raising your voice, Congress is starting to feel the heat. Last month, the majority of Democrats in the Senate — more than ever before — joined Senator Sanders in voting to block U.S.-made bombs and rifles to the Israeli government. Even MAGA Republicans are breaking ranks and calling for the U.S. government to stop underwriting these horrors.
The Block the Bombs Act offers a new path forward by blocking sales of weapons that the Israeli government has used to decimate Gaza, including U.S. bombs, tank rounds, and artillery shells that they have used to massacre civilians. Its passage would send a clear, urgently needed message to both Trump and PM Netanyahu that people in the United States refuse to continue bankrolling collective punishment.
This moment and the suffering we're witnessing is so hard, Pamela, and we know demanding a policy change like this can feel impossible.
But when we work together, we make the impossible possible. We know because we've done it before. During the first Trump administration, we built a coalition of activists who successfully pressured bipartisan majorities in a Republican-led Congress to block weapon sales to Saudi Arabia in the face of incredible suffering and violence in Yemen.
The progress we're making isn't happening as fast as we'd like, but make no mistake — we're turning the tide. In early 2024, just 11 senators voted to request a simple human rights report on the Israeli government's actions in Gaza. Last month? 27 voted to BLOCK weapons.
It's time to keep going. Today, the choice between a continued devastating war and a deepening of the crisis OR taking a step toward saving lives and ending U.S. complicity is clear. Let's keep pushing Congress toward the path to peace and justice.
Thank you for working for peace,
