Pamela, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is on a countdown for closure. The CPB - the backbone of PBS and NPR's funding - has been forced to shut down at the end of the fiscal year due to Trump's cuts. [1] Over 1,500 local stations will lose the funding they depend on, forcing layoffs, program cancellation, and in some cases - shuttering entire stations. YES NO Pamela, for some Americans in rural communities and small towns, public broadcasting is often the only trusted news source they rely on. That's because PBS and NPR are required to be objective by law. [3] Meanwhile, corporate media is settling multi-million-dollar lawsuits with the Trump administration and self-censoring to avoid retaliation. And that's exactly what Trump wants.
