At Fair Fight, we know democracy isn’t something that defends itself — it takes people. It takes action. It takes showing up again and again, using a multitude of tactics — and organizing together as we face a far-right regime that’s taking a wrecking ball to our freedoms in an effort to destroy American democracy as we know it. We work to stop, slow, or mitigate the harm of voter suppression, protect and expand access to the ballot, and elect leaders across the South (from the local to federal level) who will defend independent elections and our freedom to vote. We do this by organizing and working in coalition at the local, regional, and national levels, and training volunteers to support our mission. Our team has tracked the far-right plot to undermine elections and spread damaging voter suppression tactics. We’ve advocated in coalition against anti-voting bills in dozens of states and work deeply at home here in Georgia against efforts to remove eligible voters from the voter registration rolls. We also played a pivotal role in defeating anti-voter candidates in local and state-level elections, including one decided by just 48 votes. We’re launching Rights & Insights at a critical moment. MAGA lawmakers in Congress and in many state legislatures are supporting versions of the so-called SAVE Act, a federal voter suppression bill that despite its misleading name would block tens of millions of eligible Americans from registering to vote. Trump has issued an executive order trying to seize control of our elections. And far-right activists are working to entrench themselves into election administration positions, pass voter suppression laws, and advance mass voter challenges designed to remove voters from the rolls. It’s all part of the far-right effort to undermine the 2026 midterm elections in states like Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. They want to remove eligible voters from the rolls and make it harder to vote, all to insulate themselves from the accountability of our votes. Fair Fight is in court right now fighting far-right voter challenges. We’re investing in local races that shape election boards. We’re responding in real time when election rules or voting locations are changed. And we’re building a movement in the South that refuses to give up the power of our freedom to vote, organize, and create a fair system where all of our freedoms are protected. This Substack is a continuation of that work. It’s a place for clarity, context, and resistance. A place to cut through the noise and stay sharp for what’s ahead.
