That's the only way Speaker Mike Johnson could pass an extreme, unpopular bill like this one – telling his members to hide from their own constituents, rushing the bill through without enough time for anyone to read it, and calling in President Trump himself to threaten Republicans who didn't fall in line. Every member of the Senate has a choice to make in the coming weeks: Will they side with Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the billionaire oligarchs they serve—or will our members of Congress stick up for the people who sent them to Washington to represent us? That's what's on the line when they vote on Trump's budget plan. This bill would make huge cuts to food stamps, which more than 40 million individuals rely on to eat [1] and kick 8.6 million people off their health insurance - which could grow to 14.4 million by 2034.
