One action you can take right now to oppose Trump’s travel ban

Let's recommit to ending Trump's and Stephen Miller's hateful bans.

Win Without War

Pamela: No matter how Trump and Stephen Miller dress them up, yesterday's announced travel ban and ALL the others they have attempted amount to the same thing: A racist immigration policy that leaves people to suffer and struggle.

Communities across the country have recently seen their neighbors disappeared, abducted, detained, and deported. With the latest iteration of Trump's infamous Muslim Ban set to go into effect as soon as 12:01 AM on Monday, the chaos, fear, and harm will only deepen.

Make no mistake: Travel bans do not make anyone safer. Centering bigotry and hatred at the heart of U.S. immigration policy will only separate families, demonize immigrants, and strip our country of the values — of the people — who help make it great.

But we anticipated this move, and that's why we're ready to demand the kind of policies that keep people — everywhere — safe. The good news? Champions in Congress are speaking out. That's the kind of leadership necessary to repeal these hateful bans, remind the White House that Congress — and people like us — have a say in our governance, and send a crucially needed message of hope and welcome to people whose lives Trump is upending.

It'll take a sustained groundswell of opposition in the coming days and months to make it happen. How do we get that? You, Pamela.

Sign now to send every member of Congress a loud and clear message: No Ban Ever.

ACT NOW

The consequences of this latest ban will be immediate and even deadly: Missed weddings, births, funerals, and obstacles to lifesaving medical treatment.

Our Executive Director Sara was pregnant with her first child when the first Muslim ban came down. "I recall rushing straight from my baby shower to the airport to protest, terrified that my Mum wouldn't be able to get into the country to meet her soon-to-be grandson. In the end, we were lucky, but others were not so lucky then and will not be so lucky now."

For many families, these bans are a death sentence. The list of people from impacted countries — Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen — includes several that are currently facing heartbreaking violence and deep humanitarian crises.

Every day, our community works tirelessly to change the systems that allow exactly this kind of fear and horror to be possible. When we pressure our members of Congress, we show up for our values, remind them we're paying attention, and hold them accountable.

That's not all – with every petition signature, phone call, and protest, we're ALSO creating the political space our decision-makers need to be bolder and work harder at building the safer, more sustainable future we all want and deserve.

When members of Congress speak out, it helps build power for litigation, reunites people with their families, and keeps stories alive in the press — but it won't happen if activists like you don't push for it, so Pamela, let's get to work.

Every lawmaker should be seizing this moment to push back on Trump's bans and reassert congressional authority over foreign policy and human rights — and your voice can help push them to do it. Sign now!

Ensuring hatred is not at the heart of U.S. domestic and foreign policies requires a huge commitment, but we can do it together. Today, when lawmakers across Capitol Hill see a message tens of thousands of activists strong, they'll know the political cost of acquiescence and silence — and the popular support for pushing back on Trump and Stephen Miller's hate.

Eight years ago, activists like you flooded airports and streets across the country to protest Trump's reprehensible anti-Muslim and anti-African travel bans. That action grew into a movement: #NoBanEver.

Today, it's time to continue that fight and make clear that deporting students, silencing political speech and dissent, and punishing people because of their heritage is unacceptable. The world of travel bans and mass deportations that Trump and Stephen Miller want won't make us safer. What will? A world where people can thrive and live without violence.

That's the world we'll build — together.

Thank you for working for peace,
The Win Without War team
