On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump will be sworn in as president—and here are five things he plans to do on his first day in office:

1. Trump says he will declare a national emergency and mobilize the U.S. military to carry out mass deportations that will tear families apart and place immigrants into concentration camps.¹ He also plans to issue an executive order to end birthright citizenship for children of immigrants born in the United States.^2,3
2. Trump has promised to pardon the insurrectionists who violently stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and left hundreds of police officers injured and several people dead.⁴
3. Trump plans to reinstate his racist and xenophobic Muslim ban that would deny individuals from Muslim-majority countries entry into the United States.⁵
4. Trump has pledged to sign an executive order cutting federal funding from any school that recognizes and respects their transgender students and staff.⁶
5. Trump also plans to do the bidding of the fossil fuel corporations by declaring a national emergency that will allow oil companies to destroy and pollute our planet just to line their pockets.⁷
