Five things Trump plans to do on Day 1

On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump will be sworn in as president—and here are five things he plans to do on his first day in office.

Dear MoveOn member,

On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump will be sworn in as president—and here are five things he plans to do on his first day in office:

  1. Trump says he will declare a national emergency and mobilize the U.S. military to carry out mass deportations that will tear families apart and place immigrants into concentration camps.1 He also plans to issue an executive order to end birthright citizenship for children of immigrants born in the United States.2,3
  2. Trump has promised to pardon the insurrectionists who violently stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and left hundreds of police officers injured and several people dead.4
  3. Trump plans to reinstate his racist and xenophobic Muslim ban that would deny individuals from Muslim-majority countries entry into the United States.5
  4. Trump has pledged to sign an executive order cutting federal funding from any school that recognizes and respects their transgender students and staff.6
  5. Trump also plans to do the bidding of the fossil fuel corporations by declaring a national emergency that will allow oil companies to destroy and pollute our planet just to line their pockets.7

Andra, this is what we are up against. And we must be prepared to take on Trump at every single turn. Will you donate $9 today to MoveOn to ensure that the progressive movement is prepared to respond to his attacks on our communities, our planet, our freedoms, and our democracy?

While our communities will face despicable attacks on Day 1, we know that this will be the start of a long, four-year battle against Trump's authoritarian plans.

Andra, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

And that means progressive grassroots organizations like MoveOn must be prepared not only for Day 1—but for all 1,460 days of the Trump administration.

From flooding Congress with calls and petitions to airing hard-hitting ads on key issues to hosting in-person events to raising funds for vulnerable and marginalized communities who will be most impacted by Trump's Project 2025 and so much more, MoveOn will be here every step of the way to fight for a world where everyone can thrive.

MoveOn was built for moments like this. Since our founding in 1998, MoveOn members have taken on the biggest challenges our country faces—and won.

In Trump's first term, we defeated his attempts to destroy the Affordable Care Act, we stopped his Muslim ban, and we ended his migrant family separation policy. We can do it again—but only if we are united and strong.

And we're not stopping now.

Please, if you are able, make a $9 donation today to help MoveOn build up the resources we need to stop the worst of Trump's second term.

Thanks for all you do.
